Liminality – a physical mindscape
Liminality is a project I took on in 2024. From scratch, I built a large room from thin timber boards. I mixed wall paint and coarse sand to replicate a rough outer wall, and framed the windows with thin timber strips.

The furniture and every item within the room are all handmade using a diverse range of materials and using techniques such as sewing, resin mixing and bleaching photographs. I also learnt to solder with this project, creating small circuit boards that run lights through the TV, lava lamp and fairy lights.
It was created as part of my HSC Visual Art studies as my major work, and through it I learnt so many valuable, hands-on creative skills. This piece really is the heart of a physical narrative.
